I’m glad you found your way to The Cross in My Backyard.
This is the view from my backyard, it shows the cross from a nearby church and it is what inspired this blog, the view that faith starts at home.
I started it as an expansion of my work as a Child and Family Worker in Capital City Church in Australia.
Firstly, I wanted to create a space for small churches without Child and Family Workers to find ideas that might work for them.
Secondly, I wanted to encourage Families to take responsibility for the Faith Formation of their children, both in Church and at Home.
I have created a page that uses easily found ideas to help you share The Revised Common Lectionary Readings with children. Instead of sifting through many websites, Facebook , Pinterest, Instagram, And Blog Posts; this is a one stop shop where I have done the sifting for you to find Theologically And Developmentally appropriate material for your Congregation or Family.
You can choose to use the ideas for the Readings being preached on each week in a congregational setting or they can be shared with your family as part of your daily faith sharing experiences.
If you are sharing any of the suggested ideas that are not mine in a congregational setting, please check the social media laws in your part of the world, before doing so.
